Global interconnection provider Equinix, Inc. (
Equinix) and Chinese cloud giant Alibaba Cloud have formed a partnership. Equinix, which has headquarters in Redwood City, California, United States, was established in 1998. The company offers “the most interconnected data centers” and operates in “44 markets” globally. It specializes in helping companies enhance business opportunities through IT and cloud strategies. Its partnership with Alibaba Cloud will give Equinix customers in a number of regions access to Alibaba Cloud’s services through the Equinix Cloud Exchange.
Also known as Aliyun, Alibaba Cloud has global headquarters in Singapore. Established in 2009, the company operates in a number of countries globally, and quite recently launched facilities in the Middle East, Europe, Australia and Japan. It offers scalable cloud computing and data management platforms and caters to 2.3 million-strong client base. Cloud computing enjoys substantial growth in Asia, with particular growth in China where the market is expected to reach a value of $20 billion by 2020. By giving its customers access to Alibaba Cloud Equinix is helping its multinational customers “expand their cloud-based applications into this growing region in a secure and high-performing manner”.
