Government Agency Enterprise Ireland Announces $1.06 Million Start-up Funding
The Irish government’s Enterprise Ireland agency has announced it is offering €1 million ($1.06 million) in funding for start-ups. The agency, which has headquarters in Dublin, Ireland’s capital, is responsible for developing and growing Irish enterprises in global markets. It works in partnership with Irish businesses and helps them “start, grow, innovate and win export sales in global markets”. The current funding is targeting “international entrepreneurs and recent graduates”.

Enterprise Ireland’s funding will come from two Competitive Start Fund (CSF) competitions and will be open to around twenty applicants. Successful applicants will receive €50,000 ($47000) each alongside “high-level business development support”. Those interested have until March 8, 2017 to apply and awards will be open to “early stage companies capable of succeeding in global markets, creating jobs and growth”. There will be a particular focus on internet, games, apps, mobile, SaaS, cloud computing, and enterprise software companies.

“Last year, Enterprise Ireland supported 128 start-ups through Competitive Start Funds which inject critical early stage funding into businesses,” explained Mary Mitchell O’Connor, the Irish governments Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation. “The launch of the International and Graduate Entrepreneurship CSFs, amounting to a total of €1 million in funding, will provide valuable financial and business support to overseas entrepreneurs and recent graduates who have global ambition for their businesses”.
