Web Hosting Provider Hit by Sealand Fire

July 8, 2006 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - Sealand, formerly known as Roughs Tower, a War II missile platform whose owner claims it as a sovereign state, has been ravaged by fire, the “nation’s” official website announced recently. The report claimed the fire caused extensive damage and forced the evacuation of its inhabitants courtesy of the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force.

According to a press release, the fire started in the platform’s power generator and caused damage totaling 1M Sealand Dollars ($1 Million U.S. Dollars).

Sealand is home to HavenCo, a web hosting provider that bills itself as “offering the world's most secure managed servers in the world's only true free market environment”.

As nations go, Sealand is one of the smallest at only 550 square meters. It has its own royal family headed by Mr. Roy Paddy Bates, whose formal title is H.R.H. Prince Roy of Sealand. Although Sealand’s status has never formerly been recognized, it was previously announced that it is not part of the British Isles.
