HIS Report Suggests Enterprise Cloud Expenditure Will Increase to $235 Billion by 2017
A recent report by HIS has suggested that enterprise cloud expenditure will increase to $235 billion by 2017 – an increase of 35% based on 2014 projections.

According to HIS companies increasing cloud capability and slowly migrating services to the cloud. Many companies are focusing on developing cloud-based apps and services before an expected boom in utilization.

The news comes on the heels of Cisco’s announcement last month that it would spend in excess of US$1 billion to gain a foothold in the cloud computing arena and after IBM’s announcement that it would invest considerably in software and services, particularly the Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings provided by its SoftLayer acquisition.

“Enterprises today are trying to create faster, more efficient I.T. environments to ensure more responsive, agile and successful businesses,” explained HIS’ Senior Director for Information Technology Jagdish Rebello. "In these cloud-based settings, enterprises also want to integrate the deep analytical power of big data, which will give them competitive advantages through insights about present and prospective customers."

HIS bills itself as “the leading provider of diverse global market and economic information” and has global headquarters in Englewood, Colorado. The company also has a presence in a number of states across the USA.
