Hortonworks' Hadoop Data Platform (HDP) Becomes Google Cloud Supported Feature
Hortonworks' Hadoop Data Platform (HDP) has become a Google Cloud “Supported Feature”. The partnership between Hortonworks and Google means the Google Cloud Platform will now facilitate HDP cluster provisioning to offer enterprises scalability for solutions that employ HDP.

Located in Palo Alto, California, USDA, Hortonworks was established in June 2011. The company produces business computer software and specializes in the development and support of Apache Hadoop - a framework which enables big data distributed processing sets across a range of computer clusters. It is a key contributor to the Open Source (OS) Apache Hadoop software project.

Hortonworks’ solution offers rapid prototyping and development environments capability. It leverages Apache's Ambari plugin and utilizes scripting developed by Google and Hortonworks which was designed to simplify provisioning. It includes integration of “bdutil”, a command-line script which manages Apache Hadoop instances on Google Compute Engine.

Hortonworks now provides services to customers regardless of the platform they utilize. Before the news of its inclusion into Google Cloud, Hortonworks was established as a solution on Amazon's AWS and Microsoft's Azure cloud.
