March 20, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Two major web hosting purchases took place recently involving web hosting providers Host Europe and Visi.
Freedom4 Communications (http://www.freedom4.com), the current incarnation of UK web host Pipex, sold its hosting division to Host Europe (http://www.hosteurope.com). The deal is reported to have cost £120M ($238M). Completion of the deal will lead to Freedom4 Communications shareholders receiving a £157M ($312M) payout.
Alongside Host Europe’s purchase, Visi was recently reported to have purchased Infinity AccessNet for an undisclosed amount. Infinity AccessNet operates as an ISP and the purchase will add $1 million to the company’s annual income, and add 1,000 customers to its customer base. Infinity's employees will be absorbed into Visi and work at the company’s headquarters in Eden Priory, Minnesota, USA or its St. Paul, Minneapolis, USA data centers.
