November 22, 2017
Hosting and cloud services provider OVH has announced it has entered the cloud market in the United States. Established in 1999, and with headquarters in Roubaix, France, OVH offers a wide range of web hosting-related products and services. These include dedicated servers and Virtual Private Server (VPS) packages alongside a number of cloud-based solutions and domain name registration options. 1 million customers in 138 countries rely on its infrastructures. OVH has launched a new hosted private cloud offering that leverages vCloud Air – a cloud platform acquired from VMware Inc. in May 2017.
OVH is “introducing new hosted private cloud and hybrid cloud solutions on proprietary, next-generation hardware and software that can be augmented with its high-performance dedicated server, public cloud, and network product lines”. It moves into an arena that is dominated by cloud giants like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform. Leveraging VMware, its dedicated private cloud offering also harnesses Intel Corporation’s latest processors and provides environments that have dedicated resources that are not shared with other companies. While the service will initially be available in the Eastern United States, it will become available in the United Kingdom and Germany in the first half of 2018.
"Businesses need solutions that scale dynamically and are supported by top-tier customer service experts to meet their evolving private cloud demands," explained the CEO and President of OVH US, Mr. Russell P. Reeder. "Businesses are dynamic. Cloud providers must support business change as rapidly as it occurs. OVH works with our customers to deliver the best-fit infrastructure and software options they need to help them operate better, faster, and more efficiently."
