Web Host and Co-location Services Provider Hosting.com Shows its Green Credentials

May 12, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web host and co-location services provider Hosting.com has shown its green credentials by purchasing green energy, it was reported recently. The company will purchase 208 Green Energy blocks (1,000 kilowatt hours each) from Louisville Gas and Electric - an E.ON company (http://www.eon-us.com/green). According to Hosting.com, this will offset around 1,500 tons of carbon annually.

“We believe it is our social and business responsibility to offset our carbon emissions. Our industry is one that must take a close look at its energy consumption and the impact it will have on the environment,” explained Hosting.com’s CEO, Mr. Darren King. “We hope to set the industry standard on environmental stewardship. To that end, we have built one of the greenest data centers in the country, virtualized our server environments to optimize usage and output, and set up a program to reimburse all employees that participate in such programs.”

“Hosting.Com is our first industrial customer to completely offset its annual carbon emissions,” explained E.ON U.S.’ Vice President of Energy Delivery, Retail Business, Mr. John P. Malloy. “They’ve also done this in their California and Boston offices, and we are pleased they’ve chosen to take part in the LG&E program,” he added. “Going green is not about buzzwords, it is making sustainable and environmentally-conscious decisions that will impact our existing clients and future generations of clients.”

E.ON U.S. serves 326,000 natural gas and 401,000 electric customers in Louisville and 16 surrounding counties. Established in 1996, Hosting.com‘s services include dedicated hosting, managed hosting, co-location, disaster recovery and business continuance services.
