Web Hosting Provider Hostway Launches WhoisProtector Lite to Protect Online Identity
February 23, 2007 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Web hosting provider Hostway (http://www.hostway.com) has launched WhoisProtector Lite to protect domain name owners online identities, the company announced this week. The service keeps key information related to domain names away from public scrutiny an important precaution in an environment of phishers, identity thieves, telemarketers and scam artists.
It is a requirement of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, or ICANN, the domain registration governing body, that registrars show the name, address and email address of a domain name owner through the Internet. Hostways WhoisProtector Lite blocks out all of this information accept administrative and technical contact email addresses.
WhoisProtector Lite complements Hostway's WhoisProtector Ultra, a service for domain name owners who require more robust privacy and spam protection. Rather than leaving an administrative email address, the Ultra service only provides WhoisProtector's information.
