Web Hosting Provider Hostway Launches WhoisProtector Lite to Protect Online Identity

February 23, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider Hostway (http://www.hostway.com) has launched WhoisProtector Lite to protect domain name owners’ online identities, the company announced this week. The service keeps key information related to domain names away from public scrutiny – an important precaution in an environment of phishers, identity thieves, telemarketers and scam artists.

It is a requirement of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, or ICANN, the domain registration governing body, that registrars show the name, address and email address of a domain name owner through the Internet. Hostway‘s WhoisProtector Lite blocks out all of this information accept administrative and technical contact email addresses.

WhoisProtector Lite complements Hostway's WhoisProtector Ultra, a service for domain name owners who require more robust privacy and spam protection. Rather than leaving an administrative email address, the Ultra service only provides WhoisProtector's information.
