Edge Hosting has become Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act HITECH (HIPAA HITECH) certified for the third year in a row.
With headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, Edge Hosting specializes in services that meet FedRAMP, HIPAA, PCI, SSAE 16 SOC 2 Type II and EU Privacy Shield Framework requirements. These services include managed AWS services, compliance architecture and audit support, cloud migration and hybrid clouds for the healthcare industry and US Federal bodies. Its latest certification was the result of stringent third party auditing.
Edge Hosting’s audit was conducted by Minneapolis, Minnesota-based accountancy firm CliftonLarsonAllen, LLP. It followed the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) protocol and considered the company’s processes, controls, and policies against the OCR HIPAA protocol and HITECH Act. The audit included a test of “organizational requirements and policies, procedures and documentation requirements”.
“For Edge Hosting, the sense of duty to securely maintain e-PHI goes far beyond an audit,” explained Edge Hosting’s CISO, Mark Houpt. “Given the monetary value of healthcare information to hackers, foreign agents and corporate espionage activities, and the increasing burden it places on our healthcare system, providing security and ongoing controls to our healthcare customers is paramount.”
