IaaS Cloud Provider Memset Opens New Data Center
Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud provider Memset has announced the opening of a new data center. Memset, who provides “high security, cost-effective utility Infrastructure-as-a-Service Cloud products to UK government”, has headquarters in Cranleigh, Surrey, United Kingdom. Its customers include the full range of government organizations from the Cabinet Office to local UK councils. Its new data center is its second and it is intended to “address the high demand in government IaaS hosting requirements”.

Based in Reading, United Kingdom, Phase 1 of the 60,000-square-foot data center is now complete with 750 cabinets installed. The center utilizes “N+1 cooling, redundant UPS systems and N+1 generators” and has received ITHCs and penetration tests to assess its suitably for managing high level government data. The site will offer cross-site vLan capabilities with Memset’s center in Dunsfold, UK to offer dual-site disaster recovery and performance capabilities.

The data center is also designed for “ultra-efficiency”, meaning it has solid ‘green’ credentials, with air-side economizers and a “hot air containment system” that allows the external climate to reduce data center temperatures for the most of the year. For the remainder of the year the center is powered by renewable energy.

“We are delighted to bring our technology to the UK Government’s G-Cloud initiative and help support Memset address the increasing demand for IaaS requirements,” explained the Managing Director from Everest, Ed Butler. Everest has been working with Memset on its accreditation process.
