IaaS Company ProfitBricks Announces General Availability of High Availability Virtual Data Centers
Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) company ProfitBricks has announced general availability of high availability Virtual Data Centers for enterprise-level cloud deployments. The move facilitates dynamic routing of IPv4 addresses to virtual machines (VMs) through support for Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) - an industry first.

ProfitBricks, which was founded in 2010 and has headquarters in Berlin, Germany and Boston, Massachusetts, is noted for building the first virtual datacenter which offered users time-based billing and facilitated custom defined cloud storage instances. It also provides the same type of availability functionality as provided by "on-premise" data centers. Ubuntu and Debian can deployed in the ProfitBricks cloud without any special configuration, and support for ARP facilitates a high availability VM environment.

"Simple implementation of high availability virtual data centers illustrates how ProfitBricks is leading the cloud computing 2.0 charge," explained ProfitBricks USA's CEO, Bob Rizika. "Business-critical cloud deployments should be simple to setup and maintain while offering the same reliability configurations as traditional on-premise data centers. ProfitBricks’ support of ARP speaks to the cloud’s swift evolution."
