September 5, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – IIS is outserving Apache on Fortune 1000 websites, a report on Enterprise Network and Servers (http://www.enterprisenetworksandservers.com/) suggested recently. The same report suggests ASP.NET deployments are also growing.

According to the report, Port80 Software (http://www.port80software.com/), a company that “develops Microsoft IIS tools to enhance Windows Web server security, performance, and user experience” periodically surveys public Fortune 1000 sites establish which web and application hosting technologies they utilize.

A survey they released in August established that IIS 4, 5, 6 and 7 had a 55% share of all Fortune 1000 corporate sites. Apache's share was only 24.9 percent share. In a related Port80 survey suggested 51.5 percent of Fortune 1000 sites use Microsoft ASP.NET and ASP application server environments - an increase of 7.9 percent since 2005. All other application servers - Java platforms like J2EE, JSP, WebLogic, WebSphere, and Tomcat, PHP, and ColdFusion were used on 24% of Fortune 1000 sites.

Port80 Software intends to offer IIS 7-compatible versions of its products by early 2008 to “leverage the new extensibility model in IIS 7 on Windows Server 2008, the upcoming new server OS from Microsoft."
