Indian IT and Outsourcing Company Infosys Rearranges Executive Team
Indian IT and outsourcing company Infosys has rearranged its executive team. The company has promoted 12 Senior Vice Presidents to the position of Executive Vice Presidents, some of which now have added responsibilities. The move comes in the wake of the departure of a number of executive-level staff over the last number of months. The bulk of those promoted are over 40 years of age.

A number of analysts have suggested Infosys has promoted the new executives as a means of providing an incentive for them to stay with the company. The promotions include Rajiv Bansal, the company’s Chief Financial Officer, and Sanjay Jalona, the company’s Head of Manufacturing and Engineering Services.

Alongside the promotions Infosys has also brought in Vishal Sikka as Chief Executive Office. Mr. Sikka is a board member and formerly Chief Technical Officer at SAP. He has a PHD in Compuer Science from Stanford University and was responsible for leading SAG's global products and innovations activities.

"The CEO is always free to make the organization structure below it,” explained the Head the Infosys Nominations Committee, K V Kamath. ”But we thought it was appropriate that we have a COO who has vast experience to support the CEO and we unanimously came to the conclusion that U B Pravin Rao would be an effective COO to work with. And then we decided to have an organization structure below that which is relatively flat. This is the construct we have come up with at this point in time with young leaders, young in the sense that they would have between 12 and 20 years of a professional career to work with the CEO and COO on a going forward basis."
