Internet service provider j2 Global Inc. has acquired Australian web host
Web24 Group Pty Ltd. This is the first time Delaware-based j2 Global has ventured into the web hosting arena. Financial aspects of the purchase were not released.
j2 Global, which has headquarters in Hollywood, California, offers a range of services including cloud, corporate efax, evoice, and security and email services. The company has recently been involved in a 9-month acquisition spree, most recently buying email marketing provider, Contactology, Inc. Before this the company bought British email security and management company iCritical. Alongside this, the company purchased a British global phone number provider City Numbers, which offers toll free phone inbound local, national and international numbers for around 80 countries. These purchases are expected to have an immediate positive impact of the company's revenues.
Web24 is based in Melbourne, Australia and bills itself as "Australia’s cloud experts". The company offers a range of services including web hosting and domain name registration alongside shared and dedicated hosting. The company predominantly caters to an Australian clientele of small and medium-sized businesses.
