Isle of Man Provider Manx Telecom Wins Contract with Online Poker Site PokerStars
Isle of Man provider Manx Telecom Ltd. (Manx Telecom) has won a contract with online poker site PokerStars - the company's hosting client since 2005. Manx Telecom, which was established in 1987, has its headquarters in Braddan on the Isle of Man - a self-governing island of the west coast of the United Kingdom which claims to have the oldest continuous parliamentary body in the world. Manx Telecom provides a wide range of broadband and telecommunications products and services. Its contract with PokerStars is viewed as a major success.

PokerStars operates the largest poker site in the world. Its contract with Manx Telecom covers a three-year period and sees the company relocate 48 data hosting racks from its previous provider in Ireland to the Greenhill Data Center (GDC). The center - the only tier 3 data center on the island - was completed in March of last year at a cost of £10 million ($15.61 million) to Manx Telecom. With the new contract under its belt, the company can begin the second phase of GDC's construction.

“This contract extends and expands the very successful relationship we have with PokerStars, and represents another endorsement of our commitment to invest a total of £10million in the GDC project," explained Gary Lamb, the CEO of Manx Telecom. "Phase one is already home to a variety of hosting and managed services customers across several sectors, and we’re delighted that we can now progress with phase two. This new PokerStars contract is excellent news for Manx Telecom and enhances our global reputation as a world class hosting provider – but it’s also great news for the Isle of Man’s eGaming sector and the local economy.”
