IT Company Cisco Announces 200 New Jobs in United Kingdom
IT company Cisco has announced plans for 200 new jobs in the United Kingdom, increasing its British workforce by 300%. The new jobs will be provided by Cisco Meraki, a new Cisco division that focuses on cloud controlled routing, WiFi, and security hardware which was formed through the acquisition of Meraki in 2012. The new jobs are a response to an increase in demand for Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) solutions.

Cisco, which was established in 1984, has global headquarters in San Jose, California, United States. The company’s UK headquarters are in Feltham, Middlesex, United Kingdom. The company is a globally recognized brand involved in designing, manufacturing and selling networking equipment. Cisco’s new jobs will be online by 2017.

Alongside generating new jobs Cisco intends to invest $2.5 million in the European arm of Startupbootcamp, a “global network of industry focused startup accelerators”. Again, Cisco’s intention is to help the digital economy to grow. The announcement about the news and Cisco’s investment was made at the company’s UK headquarters by Sajid Javid, the UK’s Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, alongside Phil Smith, the CEO of Cisco UK. Cisco has also committed $1 billion in UK activity in the coming 5 years through its support of “IDEALondon” a “digital innovation community” that helps startups.
