IT services provider Lockheed Martin has extended its range of cloud computing services provided to UK government customers. The services now include IT Service Integration and Management, otherwise known as "SIAM".

Lockheed Martin's support for G-Cloud III - a UK government initiative that provides a framework of pre-approved Cloud ICT suppliers that UK government organizations can engage to provide IT services - will leverage its Solutions-as-a-Service (SolaSĀ®) secure cloud delivery platform. Through SolaS government organizations can outsource a wide range of IT functions, including computing and storage, email and collaboration, and cloud strategy.

With headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, Lockheed Martin employs around 118,000 people worldwide and is involved in the "research, design, development, manufacture, integration, and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products, and services". It provides a range of cloud services including defense IT, Email-as-a-Service (EaaS), enterprise IT solutions, intelligence on demand and other managed services. The company's 2012 income was $47.2 billion.

"We are applying our strong cyber security expertise to ensure secure cloud computing and help governments realize cost-savings and efficiencies from the use of advanced technologies," explained Lockheed Martin's Vice President of Information Technology and Security Solutions for Information Systems & Global Solutions, Vicki Schmanske. "Our inclusion in G-Cloud III will strengthen the corporation's IT service activities across the broader UK public sector."
