August 18, 2007 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Kansas City-based web hosting provider Greensoft Solutions Inc. is hosting a website promoting Burger King and the Simpsons Movie. The site, Burger Kings Simpsonizeme.com (http://simpsonizeme.com/), has been operational since July 22, 2007, allows Internet users to become residents of the Simpsons fictional home, Springfield.
The site allows users to upload a photograph of themselves, which is turned into a Simpson-like character using face-recognition software. The site has been Simpsonizing 1,000 people a minute and to date almost 23 million photos have been uploaded to the site.
Greensoft Solutions has 50 dedicated servers catering for the 500 million hits the site has received. Its doing more traffic on a daily basis than most of the clients we host do in a year, said Robin Greenhagen, Greensoft Founder and Chief Technology Officer. When we saw this thing was really taking off, we had to do some quick engineering, add some more servers and rethink some of the architecture to optimize the site, Greenhagen added. We did good, and we did bad, but that just lasted a short time.
