Leading Italian ISP Enter Joins European Cloud Team Alliance
"Enter", a leading Italian Internet Service Provider (ISP), has joined the European Cloud Team Alliance. The company offers a range of services (including cloud computing, DNS/domains, storage, CDN and network options) which focus on facilitating collaboration through the cloud. It prides itself on being able to make a "meaningful difference in giving access to IT resources" and has developed its own Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solution. The company chose Openstack to deliver one of the largest public infrastructures of its kind in Europe.

Established in June 2013, the Cloud Team Alliance is a multi-European cloud service leveraging OpenStack. It includes a range of European carriers and cloud providers such as France's Numergy, Belgium's Proximus, Dutch company KPN, and Portugal's Portugal Telecom. It provides IaaS cloud platform capability for computing, storage and networking services. The platform is able to run workloads in different locations within Europe on a pay-as-you-go terms.

Enter's Cloudup subsidiary has also launched Italy's first "pay-as-you-go" OpenStack public cloud infrastructure service. Cloudup leveraged Enter's infrastructure, which includes its own network and datacenter, to become part of a 10 GbE ring which links European data centers in a number of European cities, including London and Paris.

“When we started designing the product, Italian ISP’s offering access to computing resources were either traditional providers, who came from the world of telecommunications or hosting services; or newcomers, often retailers, without a proprietary infrastructure of their own,” explained Enter/Cloudup's Marketing Manager, Martina Casani.
