Learning Management System Blackboard Leverages AWS for New Cloud Center
Learning management system Blackboard is leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform for its new ‘Cloud Center’. Blackboard, which has headquarters in Washington, DC, United States, specializes in providing ”technology and services to help students learn, not just one way, but their own way”. Utilized by 75% colleges and universities in the United States, Blackboard’s partnership with AWS brings its services to the cloud.

The partnership was initiated in 2016 with the decision to use the cloud giant as Blackboard’s “strategic cloud services provider for its community engagement and web conferencing solutions”. The move came in response to educational institutions’ requirements for flexible cloud-based solutions delivered on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) basis. The partnership will enable Blackboard to improve customer experience and it will also offer Blackboard’s customers, which include the military, state and local governments, and a range of government agencies, a more robust level of security.

"Blackboard is committed to helping government agencies deliver timely, mission-critical training and advanced educational opportunities to ensure success," explained Blackboard Government Solutions’ Vice President Alex Kissal. "Having our leading learning management system available on the AWS GovCloud (US) region will further support our customers in building engaging, secure learning environments for training and development."
