Macquarie Telecom Launches Affordable Business Continuity for Mission Critical Applications

March 6, 2008
March 6, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Australia’s Macquarie Telecom (http://www.macquarietelecom.com/hosting/) will launch “affordable business continuity” for mission critical applications, it was announced yesterday. The company has initiated a virtualized managed fail-over disaster recovery environment which was developed in partnership with Sun Microsystems and AMD.

“Purpose built” to cater for “Australian business and government customers”, Macquarie’s disaster recovery data center will launch this month running Sun X64 servers based on AMD multi-core technology. It will be housed in an ASIO certified data center in Melbourne and enable customers to achieve 100% uptime “without the need to invest in additional hardware”. The move enables Macquarie to provide the breadth of service that allows customers to deal with the company as its sole supplier for end-to-end service.

“As more and more businesses move online they become 24/7 operators and pressure increases to deliver the necessary levels of uptime and security to meet customer, shareholder and compliance demands, especially in the event of a disaster,” explained Macquarie Telecom’s Managing Director, Hosting, Mr. Aidan Tudehope. “The virtualized approach is the smarter way forward in this hunt for zero downtime. With all mission critical applications replicated and running in parallel on virtualized servers, customers can ensure data recovery in minutes and independent fail-over operation for extended periods of time if necessary.”

The disaster recovery service will be connected to the Macquarie Hosting Intellicentre in Sydney via the Macquarie Telecom Private IP national network, offering customers an affordable way to ensure data replication between the two sites.
