Malaysian web host Exabytes Network Sdn Bhd (
Exabytes) has bought Singaporean host Signetique IT Pte Ltd. (Signetique) giving it a 15% share of the Singaporean hosting market. Financial aspects of the deal have not been released. The company, recognized as Malaysia’s leading web hosting and ecommerce solutions provider, is headquartered in Penang, Malaysia.
Signetique is a leading cloud hosting provider and offers a range of services including Virtual Private Servers (VPS), dedicated server options and managed services. Established in 2000, the company caters to SMEs of a range of sizes both within Malaysia and elsewhere. The purchase comes in the wake of Exabytes' 2014 acquisition of USONYX Pte Ltd. and is likely to produce a 50% increase in the company's revenue in 2015. Exabytes admits the acquisition is part of an aggressive regional expansion strategy, but it is also seen as a build up to the company moving into Indonesia.
Exabytes has 30% of the Malaysia market and its revenue for the 2014/2015 financial year was RM32 million ($8.41 million) with a 50% increase in revenues projected by the end the 2015 financial year. Signetique, Exabytes Malaysia and Exabytes Singapore will maintain operation as separate entities and Exabytes will likely leverage Signetique's presence in Indonesia as a precursor to buying an Indonesian provider.
“Currently the Jakarta office focuses on customer service support for our customers in Malaysia and Singapore," suggested Founder and CEO Chan Kee Siaka in a report in the UK's Financial Times. "There’s untapped potential in the Indonesian market, but we require careful planning before we can start our operations there; but by the end of 2015, we hope to launch full-fledged hosting services in Indonesia.”
