Managed Cloud and Dedicated Hosting Provider GigeNET Announces Launch of New Server
Managed cloud and dedicated hosting provider GigeNET has announced the launch of a new server. GigeNET, which has global headquarters in Arlington Heights, Illinois, United States, was established in 1997. The company specializes in a number of areas including regular hosting and dedicated and managed hosting solutions, hybrid and cloud solutions, and automated DDoS protection services. The company has a presence in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. Its new server is a “dual purpose server” marks the “finalization of the GigeNET server line”.

GigeNET has introduced the 20-core Dual E5-2630 v4 (Dual E5) to its server line. The server was chosen as it proved able to manage network applications faster than any other servers tested by GigeNET. Leveraging Intel technology, the server supports up to 240% more Virtual Machines and reduces operation costs “by 58%”. The Dual E5 offers up to 64 TB of local storage and “has space for up to two terabytes of DDR4 RAM”. It starts with 128GB of DDR4 and scale up to 2 TB. It also offers 960GB Enterprise SSD or 8 TB Enterprise 7200 RPM SATA drives and is able to scale up to a total of eight hard disks.

“The Dual E5 is a monster of a server and allows us to tackle many of the problems our customers saw with private clouds designed by other providers,” explained GigeNET’s SVP of Products, Joe De Paola. “In a cluster with failover, the memory ceiling is off the charts removing a critical barrier to private cloud adoption”. He added, “Like the Xeon-D family, the E5-2600 v4 series is a model of efficiency and raw power and augments our recent rollouts. We have made an environmentally conscious decision by standardizing on both of these servers without compromising performance for our customers. We are looking to greatly increase our datacenters' server density by as much as 10x while using far less power. This is a huge win.”
