Mark Bregman Joins Computer Storage and Data Management Company NetApp
(Dr.) Mark Bregman has joined computer storage and data management company NetApp. NetApp, which has headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, USA, bills itself as offering “software, systems and services to manage and store your data”. A NASDAQ-100 company, it joined the Fortune 500 list of companies in 2012. Mr. Bregman joins the company as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with the overall objective of driving innovation within the company. He will lead the company’s “portfolio strategy and innovation roadmap” and establish opportunities to support NetApp’s “Data Fabric” vision for the future of data management.

An industry veteran, Mr. Bregman joins NetApp from SkywriterRX - a start up focused on machine-learning. At SkywriterRX he served as CTO and will continue on the company’s board. His previous roles have included work with IBM at its Thomas J. Watson Research Center where he was initially involved in precision measurement of the mass of the neutrino. He held various positions within IBM’s Research Division and in 1989 worked at IBM Microelectronic Division’s Yasu Development Laboratory in Yasu, Japan.

At IBM Research he was involved in strategic planning for the corporation’s Research Division and the Semiconductor Science and Technology group. He worked with IBM until 2000 when he joined AirMedia, a start up focused on distribution for mobile content. He worked as EVP of Product Operations for VERITAS Software and after its acquisition, became CTO for Symantec. He joined Neustar as CTO in 2011. Mr. Bregman achieved an A.B. in Physics from Harvard College in 1978 and a Ph.D. in Experimental High Energy Physics from Columbia University in 1984.
