Melbourne-based Web Hosting Provider Smartyhost Claims 40,000 Customers

September 1, 2007
September 1, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Melbourne-based web hosting provider Smartyhost (http://www.smartyhost.com.au/) claims it currently caters for 40,000 customers and predicts it will be the biggest hosting in provider in Australia by the end of 2007, it was reported recently. The company expects to have in excess of 50,000 customers by Christmas 2007.

Smartyhost has seen significant growth in its shared, dedicated hosting, and “virtual infrastructure” businesses. With a network built on low-cost open source software rather than the relatively expensive Windows platform, the company has been able to engage in pricing that has undercut its rivals. It has also engaged in imaginative promotions and campaigns, including 'The 40 Buck Website' which offers a domain name, website building tools, website templates and 20MB of hosting services for one year for $40 AUS.

Anoosh Manzoori, Smartyhost’s Managing Director and Founder, suggested that the company was considering acquisitions but would meet the 50,000-customer prediction without them. "We are examining a potential listing on the Australian Stock Exchange in the next two years," Manzoori also noted.
