Microsoft Launches of Microsoft Office 2016 and Updates Office 365
Microsoft launched Microsoft Office 2016 yesterday and updated its cloud-based Office 365 solution. The company, which is world renowned for its communication and collaboration software and its cloud solutions, has headquarters in Richmond, Washington, USA. It has made Office 2016 for Windows and Office 2016 for Mac available globally, and also announced new services for Office 365. Office 2016 has been redesigned with Windows 10 integration and optimization in mind.

The latest Office version offers the usual packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Access, Project and Visio. It also offers enhanced collaboration capabilities with real-time co-authoring across each application. This allows groups of employees to manage a single item (document, spreadsheet, etc.) and allows individual members of the group to view each others’ comments. Another interesting feature is the availability of Skype for Business for each application, meaning teams can now video chat when creating an item.

Two items from the online version of Office - “Tell Me” and “Smart Lookup” - have now joined the standard package, making it easier to establish how to perform a wide range of functions. Enhanced security also features in the new version and has been added with the business customer in mind. New Data Loss Prevention options reduce the possibility of data leakage, while multifactor authentication has also been added to stop unauthorised external access.

“The way people work has changed dramatically, and that’s why Microsoft is focused on reinventing productivity and business processes for the mobile-first, cloud-first world,” suggested Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella on the company’s website. “These latest innovations take another big step forward in transforming Office from a familiar set of individual productivity apps to a connected set of apps and services designed for modern working, collaboration and teamwork.”
