April 22, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Microsoft has warned of a web server vulnerability that might put some web hosting customers at risk. The company announced that the vulnerability affects the following Microsoft products - Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista and Windows XP Professional SP2.
According to reports, the vulnerability might allow intruders to elevate privileges to that of the LocalSystem administration tool. Companies using user-provided code might be more vulnerable to attack.
Despite making its announcement, Microsoft has not heard of attacks against the vulnerability. The company is currently determining whether the issue warrants an immediate patch or can be dealt with in the next scheduled security update due May 13, 2008. |
