Web Host Netcetera Celebrates Data Center Success
April 14, 2008 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Web host Netcetera is celebrating 12 months of success with expansion plans, it was announced this week. The British company based on the Isle of Man opened its £10 million ($19.8 million) Dataport datacenter for colocation only 12 months ago and the company is about to embark on a second floor of datacenter capacity.
Demand for colocation services in the Dataport has certainly exceeded all our expectations, and our first Data Floor quickly filled up, explained Netceteras Head of Sales and Marketing, Mr. Mike Quayle. We are now about to start construction of Data Floor Two which will be based upon the industry's most advanced and most environmentally efficient technology. We expect it to be ready during 2008.
The Dataport features a highly-specified infrastructure incorporating N+1 power, generators and UPSs, redundant cooling and fire protection and suppression systems, heat and smoke sensors, raised flooring, and scalable power for future expansion. Its first year has been a lively one. During the period Netcetera appointed a new executive team and took part in key industry trade shows, including Internet World, ICEi and EIG. The company was also named the most reliable British web host by Netcraft and sixth most reliable worldwide. The year has also seen a number of shifts in emphasis by companies, including reducing corporate carbon footprints through 'green hosting'.
Certainly almost everyone we speak to has environmental concerns relating to data center and IT systems in general, explained Mr. Quayle. Being built with only the latest technology, our Dataport was already about as 'green' as data center can be when it opened a year ago. Now, we are incorporating the newest energy efficiencies available anywhere in our new server room.
