April 28, 2005 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - Web hosting providers may want to take note of an interesting security system that Internet security firm Netcraft has implemented recently by having users install a toolbar that receives a feed that allows them to become part of a giant neighborhood watch system whereby the most experienced members of the community can report phishing sites and effectively block them for the rest of the community.
The system has been in effect since the beginning of 2005 and already more than 5,400 unique phishing sites have been detected and blocked to date.
As phishing attacks continue to skyrocket with new sites sprouting up daily, like googkle.com, the community approach to security is nice to see.
