NetRegistry Buys Domain Name and Web Hosting Provider PlanetDomain

February 21, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – NetRegistry has bought PlanetDomain, the company announced this week. The purchase of Primus Telecommunications’ domain name and web hosting provision arm cost in the region of $8 million bringing NetRegistry an additional 100,000 small- to medium-sized business customers.

“Our strategy is to acquire relationships with SME’s at the start of their online journey - buying a domain name. We then apply our proven skills in customer service to build trust and loyalty, gradually increasing the breadth of subscription services provided,” explained Larry Bloch, Chief Executive of NetRegistry.

NetRegistry, who caters for over 250,000 customers worldwide, suggested it will now “push its portfolio of web hosting and online marketing services at the PlanetDomain customer base”. The company also expressed plans its intention to gain further acquisitions of companies supplying hosted applications to SMEs.
