Next-generation Security Company Palo Alto Networks to Acquire Israeli Company Secdo
Next-generation security company Palo Alto Networks has announced it is to acquire Israeli company Secdo. Palo Alto Networks, which has headquarters in Santa Clara, California, United States, was established in 2005. The company specializes in areas that include threat and malware prevention, firewalls, URL filtering, threat intelligence and endpoint security. It bills itself as “leading a new era in cybersecurity” and is responsible for “preventing cyber breaches for thousands of organizations worldwide”. While financial aspects of the deal have not been released, Secdo was previously valued at around $100 million.

Secdo, has global headquarters in New York, United States, but has core activity in Ra'anana, Israel. Established in 2015, Secdo has enhanced Incident Response methodology for an era of cyber threats and attacks. The company has established a “new methodology that automates the most difficult and time-consuming aspects of incident response”. It will add enhanced endpoint detection and data collection capabilities to Palo Alto Networks’ capabilities.

"We believe security operations teams need the most advanced and consistent approach to endpoint security,” explained Palo Alto Networks’ chairman and CEO, Mark McLaughlin. “With Secdo's EDR capabilities as part of our platform, we will accelerate our ability to detect and prevent successful cyberattacks across the cloud, endpoint, and network."

"We are delighted to join the Palo Alto Networks team,” added Secdo’s co-founder and CEO, Shai Morag. “We founded Secdo to dramatically increase visibility for security operations teams to reduce the time it takes to detect and respond to an alert. The combined capabilities of Secdo and Palo Alto Networks will provide customers the capabilities they need to swiftly and accurately detect and respond to cyberattacks."

Secdo's engineers will be fully absorbed by Palo Alto Networks. The acquisition represents its second major acquisition so far in 2018, coming after a $300 million cash acquisition of Evident.io.
