NTT America’s Multi-Continent 10 Gigabit Ethernet Access Supports Web Hosting Centers

July 20, 2006
NTT America (http://www.nttamerica.com) recently announced the launch of a 10 gigabit per second Ethernet (10GigE) to the NTT Communications Global IP Network, marking the “first time that an exceptionally high-speed bandwidth connection has been made available to a wider service area”. The service is of value to a range of business types, including web hosting centers.

"We have found that many of our bleeding-edge technology customers are driving the IP applications of tomorrow, and their businesses have massive IP transit requirements in order to support IP-TV, video-on-demand, massive transit aggregation from consumer broadband, and web hosting centers," suggested Kazuhiro Gomi, Vice President of GIN. "Until now, no other service provider has been able to deliver this level of reliability, stability and exceptionally high-speed at points of presence over three continents."

GIN's high-speed bandwidth offering has increased connectivity for customers without increasing costs. As an example of the service's high speed offering the company suggests customers can now transfer an hour-long television program in 1.35 seconds (or 1.25 gigabytes per second).

"In keeping with its global technology leadership, NTT Communications has raised the bar again by offering 10GigE to customers spanning three continents. The global reach of this ultra high speed Ethernet service across the U.S., Europe and Asia is a first in the industry," said Joshua Holbrook, senior analyst at the Yankee Group. "By further layering in IPv6 capabilities, NTT Communications clearly established itself as an industry leader."
