Online Backup and Disaster Recovery Services Provider Backup Technology Announces Launch of Disaster Recovery Option
Online backup and disaster recovery services provider Backup Technology (BTL) has announced the launch of a new disaster recovery option. BTL, which is an iomart company, has headquarters in Glasgow, Scotland, and offices across the United Kingdom. The company operates a number of Tier 1 data centers and offers a wide range of cloud-related services. It’s new solution, ClouDRaaS, is a one-click disaster recovery (DR) service.

ClouDRaaS is underpinned by Zerto’s hypervisor-based replication software, which rather than using snapshots offers RPOs and RTOs that can be delivered in very short periods of time. Alongside one-click application recovery and rollback, the solution offers a range of benefits. These include granular application protection and annual managed invocation compliance testing. It also offers a number of options for connectivity and invocation. Additionally, the solution is able to replicate “any environment regardless of storage vendor or architecture”.

ClouDRaaS is already being used by Havering Sixth Form College, one of London’s leading further education providers. Located in London, the college caters to around 2,400 full-time students.

“It’s given us an enterprise class DR solution for our production infrastructure with a predictable pricing structure,“ explained Havering Sixth Form College’s Director of Continuous Improvement, Graham Francis. “We didn’t have to upgrade our network, storage or servers and we are seeing RPOs of seconds, with significantly reduced RTOs achieved during the regular testing. ClouDRaaS fits seamlessly into our existing infrastructure and is delivering extremely high service levels.”

“ClouDRaaS offers that first, safe, step into the cloud by giving you the opportunity to safely evaluate and test the water without having to give up control over production applications in the data centres you are using, explained Backup Technology’s Managing Director, Matthew Parker. “It makes effective Disaster Recovery possible within the private cloud, to the public cloud and in the public cloud and because it’s based on virtual replication and is storage and hypervisor agnostic, there’s no need to worry about availability, performance or scalability.”
