Open Source Solutions Provider Red Hat Announces Launch of OpenShift Dedicated
Open Source (OS) solutions provider Red Hat has announced the launch of OpenShift Dedicated. Red Hat, which was established in 1993, has headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. The company is a “major player in the cloud application platform space” and provides software solutions for business. It is particularly noted for its Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system. OpenShift Dedicated is a “new cloud-based service targeting enterprise IT and development teams”.

OpenShift Dedicated is geared for those “embracing the public cloud”. It is designed for enterprise IT organizations who wish to use Red Hat technology to “deploy, manage and support their OpenShift instances running on Amazon Web Services (AWS)”. The solution is now generally available and includes Docker container and Kubernetes orchestration technologies. OpenShift Dedicated presents a “third consumption model for Red Hat's OpenShift Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering” alongside OpenShift Enterprise and OpenShift Online.

OpenShift Dedicated gives users more control of the “building and isolation process” for their applications without the need to “complete administrative and operational management tasks alone”. OpenShift Dedicated help “shorten time to value” and provides a base package which offers “single-tenant isolation and a resource pool of 100GB SSD-based persistent storage, 48TB network iops and nine nodes to deploy container-based applications”. It is now available in all “AWS hosting regions”.

”We are pleased to continue to expand OpenShift's portfolio of offerings, extending new support to users running OpenShift in the public cloud and enabling the power of an open source application platform to extend into more layers of cloud computing,” explained Ashesh Badani, OpenShift, Red Hat’s Vice President. “New users signing on to OpenShift Dedicated can experience the same powerful combination of Red Hat-backed support, middleware services and container functionality they have come to expect in OpenShift Enterprise – now optimized for the public cloud.”
