Open-Xchange Provides Business-Class E-Mail and Groupware to Parallels Plesk Panel Users

April 15, 2010
April 15, 2010 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Open-Xchange announces availability of software that enables hosters and SaaS providers to replace Plesk Webmail in shared hosting environments with Open-Xchange business-class e-mail and groupware - providing users with additional PIM (Personal Information Management) features at no extra cost with an option to move to full groupware, as well as support for mobile devices.

The software called 4PSA OXtender for Plesk is an extension developed and supported by 4PSA that facilitates the transition to the AJAX-based web interface from Open-Xchange.

“Open-Xchange is the first business application that offers full integration with each of the two leading automation tools, Parallels Plesk Panel and Parallels Operations Automation,” said Jack Zubarev, president of Worldwide Service Providers at Parallels. “Open-Xchange e-mail and collaboration software gives hosters an ideal starting point to enter into the SaaS market -- fast, easy and cost-effective.”

Features and benefits of 4PSA OXtender for Plesk include:

- Enables hosters to add Open-Xchange to Parallels Plesk Server at a flat fee
- Offers users additional groupware functionality
- Simplifies Open-Xchange deployment and significantly reduces set up time
- Provisioning of Open-Xchange is fast and easy using Plesk web interface
- Automates management of Plesk changes, such as password changes, mailbox renames, removals, etc.

"Offering feature-rich and collaborative e-mail is a way for Plesk hosters and resellers to enter the fast-growing SaaS collaboration and messaging market with minimal risk and investment, and Open Xchange's OXtender is one simple and efficient way of doing this," said Philbert Shih, senior analyst, Tier1 Research. "Rich e-mail is a crucial step for service providers that want to build ARPU (average revenue per user) and enhance stickiness of their services. It also helps service providers target small businesses that can't afford or do not need something like Microsoft Exchange."

Availability

4PSA OXtender for Plesk is currently available and supports shared hosting environments. It is compatible with Plesk 8.3 or later under Linux/Unix. The software license includes Open-Xchange Webmail, maintenance subscription and installation support of 4PSA OXtender for Plesk and can be purchased from 4PSA and Open-Xchange. Open-Xchange is the only groupware specifically designed to meet the needs of SaaS providers. The company increased users to more than 15 million people worldwide – an increase of 80 percent in 2009.
