Latisys and Brazilian data center services provider
Ascenty have partnered. The move is a response to continued global demand for "IT infrastructure services delivered on a common platform". The agreement allows Latisys to leverage Ascenty’s Sao Paolo IT Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platform and local operations to access the Brazilian IT market, while Ascenty will be able to access the US market through Latisys’ IaaS platform.
Established in 1994, Latisys offers a range of services to a broad customer base that includes government agencies and medium to large sized businesses. These services include private cloud solutions, colocation, managed hosting, managed services, and disaster recovery. The company operates data centers in Ashburn, Virginia, Chicago, Denver and Irvine, California. Ascenty is a Brazilian data center provider that offers public and private cloud services, colocation, and managed hosting alongside a range of telecom services. The company manages a 1,000 km fiber optic network in the State of Sao Paulo and in October 2012 launched its own Tier III data center in Campinas, Sao Paulo.
The two companies' partnership is underpinned by similar vision and approach - both companies build and manage data centers to deliver a similar range of services. The partnership also encompasses cooperation of IaaS platform best practices, data center engineering and design, technology selection, operational excellence and marketing approaches.
“There are real challenges that go with international expansion,” explained CEO at Latisys, Pete Stevenson. “For large IT service providers, it’s a big decision in deciding whether or not to spend capital in a foreign market where the operator has no experience. We think it’s more efficient to manage the execution risk by partnering with a strong local partner so we get speed to market and local operating knowledge for current and future customers that have deployment needs in Brazil. The Latisys–Ascenty partnership is meaningful because it is built on a foundation that includes common platforms and business philosophies. For example, Ascenty has had its operations and management team work closely with Latisys engineering, operations and management team over the past year to focus on standardized procedures and infrastructure design."
