Parallels and Partners Microsoft, VeriSign and InterNetX To Launch Inaugural APAC Summit

September 5, 2009
September 5, 2009 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Virtualization and automation leader, Parallels, today announced partnerships with Microsoft, VeriSign and InterNetX, to launch the inaugural Parallels APAC Summit, the first large-scale Asia-Pacific version of Parallels established annual US event. The one-day event, to be held on 25th September 2009 in Singapore, gives participants access to firsthand updates from industry leaders on the future of cloud computing and its opportunities.

The Parallels APAC Summit 2009 will provide a platform for industry leaders to share their vision and strategies on SaaS and cloud-based models for increasing average revenue per user (ARPU) and optimizing overall profitability. Industry directions and updates on solutions to improve ARPU will be covered under relevant Product and Industry sessions. The Parallels APAC Summit 2009 Product Sessions will benefit participants in building competitive advantages and improving the bottom line. The Industry Sessions will see industry leaders present strategic insights on specific solutions that will support and improve cloud-based businesses.

"VeriSign looks forward to participating in the Parallels APAC Summit," said Michael Lin, Vice President and General Manager of SSL at VeriSign. "Together, VeriSign SSL Certificates, user authentication products, and domain name services offer Parallels partners and Web hosts around the globe a trusted online environment to conduct business."

"Microsoft and Parallels have enjoyed successful collaborations over the years and we continue to grow this partnership, especially in Asia," said Alvin Lim, Senior Director, Asia Software and Services of Microsoft. "By offering our best-in-breed products such as Microsoft Exchange and Sharepoint, with Parallels Automation, we deliver the market valuable solutions for growth."

"Parallels has proven to be a trusted partner over the years, and we're happy to support Parallels as our preferred partner with participation in the first Parallels APAC Summit,” said Hakan Ali, Director of Marketing and Sales of InterNetX. “Being one of the largest international registrars offering more than 300 ccTLDs and gTLDs, we want to gain more market share in Asia. Parallels’ APAC Summit provides us an excellent platform for our endeavors."

The Parallels APAC Summit comes on the heels on the company’s recently announced expansion plans in APAC, where significant investment will be made to support its growing base of more than 1,000 corporate users and over 200 partners. This includes new offices in Australia and South Korea, and an increase in headcount for the Parallels APAC team, in addition to existing offices in Beijing, Tokyo, Mumbai and Singapore. An IDC release1 suggests that spending on IT cloud computing services could reach US$ 42 billion by 2012 and Parallels predicts a significant proportion of this market will be in the Asia-Pacific region, where there is greater acceptance and therefore expected rapid uptake of more cost-effective cloud computing solutions.

Parallels’ greater expansion in the APAC markets brings its award-winning virtualization solutions—such as its Parallels Virtuozzo Containers, lauded as the Server or Storage Product of the Year at the 2008 CNET Networks UK Business Technology Awards—to more businesses and consumers in the region. The APAC region presents considerable opportunity for Parallels products such as Parallels Desktop for Mac and Parallels Workstation Extreme.

“Current economic conditions have created opportunities for hosting service providers in Asia-Pacific who have the foresight and agility to execute and capture the rewards. Recognising the incredible growth potential of the region, Parallels is expanding its APAC operations, starting with our inaugural APAC Summit,” stated Serguei Beloussov, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Parallels. “This is a rare opportunity for participants to network with industry leaders, sharing insights on strategic trends in cloud computing, virtualization, SaaS, automation, and more.”
