Parallels today indicated that it will outline plans for expansion into Asia-Pacific cloud computing market during the first Parallels APAC Summit, to be held in September. A recent IDC release1 suggests that spending on IT cloud computing services could reach US$ 42 billion by 2012 and Parallels predicts a significant proportion of this market will be in the Asia-Pacific region, where there is greater acceptance and the expected rapid uptake of more cost-effective cloud computing solutions. The company is poised to support this opportunity with an increased presence in the APAC region.
Parallels’ expansion into the APAC markets brings its award-winning virtualization solutions—such as its Parallels Virtuozzo Containers, lauded as the Server or Storage Product of the Year at the 2008 CNET Networks UK Business Technology Awards—to more businesses and consumers in the region.
Parallels’ APAC expansion plans also include direct presence in Australia and South Korea, in addition to existing offices in China (Beijing), Japan (Tokyo), India (Mumbai) and Singapore, to serve a growing base of over 200 partners and 1,000 corporate users. Details of the plans will be outlined during the first Parallels APAC Summit 2009, the Asia-Pacific version of Parallels’ successful annual industry-wide event in the U.S.
The Parallels APAC Summit 2009, to be held in Singapore on September 25th 2009, will headline effective cloud computing infrastructures benefits for the industry and showcase potential solutions, thereby increasing average revenue per user (ARPU) and optimizing of overall profitability.
