March 27, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Parallels (formerly SWSoft) has acquired ModernGigabyte, it was announced recently. ModernGigabyte is the owner of ModernBill, a billing solution analysts suggest is the most used in the web hosting industry. Although the purchase went through on January 11, 2008, a formal announcement will be made later today, March 27, 2008. ModernGigabyte’s employees will be absorbed into Parallels.
According to a number of reports, Parallels will continue providing ModernBill and maintain ongoing support for the solution. In addition, cPanel users will not be impacted by the change as Parallels will maintain the products’ integration capabilities. The company will also maintain current ModernGigabyte development, support, and maintenance channels. Support for ModernGigabyte’s other products – ModernAuthorize, SSL Factory, ModernDNS, and FraudGuardian – will also be maintained.
Future developments will see Plesk being bundled with ModernBill. According to the Parallels website, “shared hosting providers who use Parallels control panel products will benefit from the opportunity to purchase a pre-integrated billing solution from Parallels. Dedicated hosting providers who offer Parallels Plesk Control Panel will now be able to offer clients a complete, pre-installed hosting package with server management (Plesk) and e-commerce (ModernBill).” |
