Public Sector Service Provider Eduserv to Migrate UK Council to the Cloud
Public sector service provider Eduserv is to migrate UK local government Bristol City Council to the cloud. The "not-for-profit" provider has won a two year contract worth in the region of £1.5 million ($2.49 million) to shift the council's current IT capability to a cloud platform. The move is part of cost-saving measures designed to save the council £90 million ($150 million).

Eduserv is part of the G-Cloud framework - a UK government initiative designed to help local authorities and government bodies to adopt cloud solutions and save money. Eduserv will provide Bristol City Council with a fully managed service which will generate IT saings of around 30%.

“The benefits of having our own data center is local government can free up their real estate immediately by collocating in our data centre and migrating to the cloud in a controlled environment,” explained Eduserv's Sales Director Andrew Hawkins. “Security is paramount to our services and our consultancy team make sure all our customers have the right level of security for their data. To ensure we are delivering the best service, our cloud infrastructure is designed to host OFFICIAL information assets and is Pan Government Accredited at Business Impact Levels IL2 and IL3.”
