R1Soft Releases Service Provider API for Continuous Data Protection Products

May 24, 2007
May 24, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – R1Soft (http://www.r1soft.com), a developer of near-continuous data protection products for Linux and Windows, today released the first-ever Application Programmer Interface (API) add-on for its popular line of backup restore and disaster recovery products.

The add-on, which can be used with all R1Soft products, is based on XML-RPC standards, and is supported by most major programming languages, including Perl, Java, PHP, C/C++, and Python. R1Soft has been developing the API for the past year.

Developers can use the API to create automated processes, such as automatic billing and provisioning of Continuous Data Protection services for dedicated servers or shared hosting. It also allows for the management of quotas, users, and hosts in any hosting environment. The API additionally enables developers to integrate R1Soft products into existing billing and provisioning applications or interfaces.

“Our API vastly increases the scalability and flexibility of our software. Developers can now easily capitalize on the enormous built-in data protection feature set that is available in all of our products,” said David Wartell, R1Soft founder and CEO. “The API is completely documented and we even provide easy to follow and fully functional example programs written in Perl that use the API.”

The API introduces extensive capabilities for resellers, who can use the API to provide Continuous Data Protection to clients as an optional extra service.

“The possibilities are endless. We are effectively opening up our platform to developers, who we are confident will utilize the capabilities of CDP to their fullest,” said Wartell.

Included in the API package is an easy to use Linux command line interface to basic functions on the CDP Server.

Founded in 2003, R1Soft is a provider of Continuous Data Protection (CDP) software. Offering low cost, scalable and high-performance products, the company has quickly been recognized by industry leaders as the standard for Linux data protection.
