R1Soft to Exhibit at LinuxWorld, Showcase MySQL Backups

August 2, 2007
August 2, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – R1Soft (http://www.r1soft.com), a developer of near-continuous data protection products for Linux and Windows, yesterday announced it will showcase its newly released MySQL backup products at LinuxWorld Conference and Expo, the largest and most comprehensive event that focuses exclusively on Linux and open source software. The show is scheduled to take place August 6-9, 2007 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California, USA.

R1Soft will showcase its array of backup solutions at Booth #420 in the exhibit hall. At the booth, conference attendees will have the opportunity to spin the R1Soft Prize Wheel with the chance of winning an assortment of prizes, including backup software for Linux, cash, t-shirts, and other promotional items.

“LinuxWorld, as one of the largest open source tradeshows and exhibitions in the world, is an excellent venue to showcase our innovative backup solutions for Linux and MySQL,” said David Wartell, R1Soft founder and CEO. “We are excited to exhibit at this year’s conference.”

At the show, R1Soft will hold a briefing on Wednesday August 8, 11:15am – 12:00am, with industry journalists. The briefing will be attended by David Wartell and other company representatives. Journalists are asked to RSVP prior to the briefing.

The company’s sought-after MySQL data protection add-on module, which is designed to support large or frequently changing databases that cannot tolerate downtime or performance decreases during backups, was initially released in July. With the release, R1Soft becomes the first to offer such a data protection product for MySQL databases, which generally store transaction-based data that changes frequently. Because of these constant changes, legacy data protection solutions, such as tape backups, or free utilities like mysqlhotcopy, face many drawbacks, including their inability to store numerous point-in-time snapshots and their demands on system resources.

The module is available as a premium add-on to R1Soft’s flagship CDP Server product, providing data protection on both Linux and Windows platforms.

R1Soft’s CDP products diverge significantly from traditional backup technologies, which essentially copy files at intervals from hard disks to another medium, such as a tape drive. These methods only provide data protection on a daily or weekly basis, resulting in large losses of data in the event of a disaster. R1Soft’s CDP Server, however, monitors changes to the disk as they happen, thereby reducing backup windows to seconds or minutes. It also affords even busy servers a significantly higher level of reliability in the event of a disaster, without the consumption of a large amount of system resources.

Founded in 2003, R1Soft is a provider of Continuous Data Protection (CDP) software. Offering low cost, scalable and high-performance products, the company has quickly been recognized by industry leaders as the standard for Linux data protection.
