R1Soft Releases CDP Server 2.0 after a Year of Development

September 24, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – R1Soft (http://www.r1soft.com), a developer of near-continuous data protection products for Linux and Windows, today announced it has released the next major version of its popular Continuous Data Protection product, CDP Server 2.0.

The new release includes a variety of functional enhancements from previous versions of the product, and also introduces an array of new features not previously available. Namely, CDP Server 2.0 offers improved speeds when disk compression is enabled, Disk Safe Repair to cleanly recover archived data from server crashes or power failures, and performance improvements that allow users to run as many simultaneous backup tasks as their hardware can handle.

CDP Server 2.0 now offers email reporting features, allowing the server to automatically dispatch status reports via email directly to end users. The new version now comes standard with support for the ReiserFS file system and No More File System Indexing (Make File List) which means no more waiting for file system indexes to restore files. Files are available for restore as soon as the backup operation has completed.

“The release of the second major version of CDP Server marks an important milestone for both our company as a whole and our dedicated development team,” said David Wartell, R1Soft founder and CEO. “With today’s announcement, we are making available a product that has been in the months in the making. We have invested thousands of hours in building the next iteration of the world’s most innovative, flexible, scalable and reliable data protection product.”

To upgrade from previous versions of CDP Server, users need to download and execute the upgrade installer for version 2.0. The software will automatically update without the need for a clean installation of the new version.

Founded in 2003, R1Soft is a provider of Continuous Data Protection (CDP) software. Offering low cost, scalable and high-performance products, the company has quickly been recognized by industry leaders as the standard for Linux data protection.
