Managed Hosting Provider Rackspace to Host Will Ferrell Site
June 26, 2007 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - Managed hosting provider Rackspace (http://www.rackspace.com) will host “the funniest place on the web,” it was announced yesterday.
The company will host Will Ferrell’s comedy video site, FunnyorDie.com (http://www.funnyordie.com), which was launched two months ago and has already received 13 million unique visitors. A single video on the site, "The Landlord," which features Ferrell, has already been viewed more than 34 million times.
The rapid growth of FunnyorDie.com required a managed web hosting provider with the capabilities of handling significant traffic volume. The site is being run on HP ProLiant DL385 enterprise servers and proprietary server built by the company. Financial terms of the 12-month managed-hosting agreement contract were not disclosed.
San Antonio-based Rackspace was formed in 1998 and caters for more than 12,000 customers through eight data centers. Funny or Die Inc. has offices in Palo Alto and Los Angeles and is funded by Sequoia Capital.
