Real-time Cyber Intelligence Company RepKnight Launches BreachAlert
Real-time cyber intelligence company RepKnight has launched ‘BreachAlert’, a cloud-hosted data security solution. RepKnight, which has headquarters in the Northern Ireland capital of Belfast in the United Kingdom, offers a range of products and services that are designed to “keep people, companies and assets safe from internal and external threats”. Established in 2011, its offerings monitor to protect against data breaches and provide alerts to potential threats. BreachAlert is intended to enable companies to comply with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements.

GDPR is a regulation established by the European Parliament, the European Council and the European Commission. It is designed to enhance and unify data protection within the European Union (EU) and provides requirements for the transfer of personal data outside the EU. GDPR legislation “makes it vital for organizations to quickly discover and report data breaches, or face punitive fines of up to 4% of global revenue”.

BreachAlert responds when data is “leaked, marketed or sold on the dark web”, particularly monitoring text dump sites like Pastebin and Ghostbin. It provides a “mitigating step towards” GDPR monitoring and compliance requirements by providing ongoing automated monitoring and alerting. The solution manages simple and complex search expressions “based on keywords, data patterns, or entity types” and also automatically extracts and filters results “based on credit card numbers, IP address ranges, emails or domain names”.

“With GDPR coming into force next year, you can’t afford to miss a single data breach,” explained RepKnight’s CEO, Tim Haynes. “Sensitive data is increasingly being sold or shared on the dark web and in text repositories such as Pastebin and Ghostbin. Our application gives you the confidence that if a data breach occurs and data is leaked on the dark web, you will be alerted to it within minutes – giving you valuable time to react”.

BreachAlert will be shown at the World Cyber Security Congress in London today and tomorrow (March 7 and 8, 2017).
