Registry Management Group Famous Four Media Registers 750,000 New Domains in 10 Weeks
Registry management group Famous Four Media has registered 750,000 new domains in 10 weeks – a record for the organization. Famous Four Media, which was established in 2011, has a registered office in Gibraltar. The group provides products and services to TLD registry operators, with a particular focus on ICANN’s new generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs).

ICANN’s new gTLD program represents a “fundamental shake up of the domain name industry”. It added significant choice to the market by offering around 1,000 new domains with descriptive suffixes. Famous Four Media manages 24 gTLDs, including domains including those with the ‘.ACCOUNTANT’, ‘.BID’, ‘.CHARITY’, and ‘.WIN’ suffixes. News of its accelerated sales comes on the heels of the group recently announcing it had 1 million names under the management of its registries.

“Adding 750,000 new domain registrations in only 10 weeks is an extraordinary achievement,” explained Famous Four Media’s CEO, Geir Rasmussen. “When ICANN launched this revolutionary program, only 2 years ago, it took approximately 6 months to reach half a million names in the totality of the new gTLD registries.” He added, “This is a clear indicator that the new gTLD program as a whole is rapidly building momentum. It took Famous Four Media a full year to reach our first 500,000 domain names, we reached one million names after a further six months and now we have broken the 1.75 million barrier after only ten additional weeks ”
