November 9, 2007 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) The Russian Business Network (RBN), a Russian web hosting provider and Internet Service Provider (ISP) with links to cyber crime, may have ceased operations, a number of reports have suggested this week
Although based in St. Petersburg, Russia-based RBN has relinquished many of its Internet addresses, a number of security analysts suggest that with such a lucrative business, it may simply be relocating, with some fearing RBN will reemerge working through China with considerable more capacity than they had available in Russia.
The organization has been linked to a number of cyber crime activities, including identity theft, spamming, provision of "bulletproof hosting", and even child pornography. The apparent closure came after investigative journalism focusing on RBN led to a number of its upstream Internet providers refusing to work with the organization.
