SaaS-managed Hybrid Cloud Solutions Provider Platform9 Announces Managed Kubernetes on VMware
SaaS-managed hybrid cloud solutions provider Platform9 Systems (Platform9) has announced the launch of a managed Kubernetes solution on VMware (VMware vSphere) - a solution the company suggests is “the industry's first”.

Established in 2013 and with head offices in Sunnyvale, California, United States, Platform9 was the 2018 recipient of the ‘Stratus Award for Cloud Computing’ award in the ‘Hybrid Cloud Provider’ category. The company’s solutions allow companies to deploy and manage hybrid clouds on a variety of platforms, and monitor their performance. Its ‘Managed Kubernetes Service on VMware’ solution allows companies to “deploy and operate Kubernetes at scale”.

Platform9’s out-of-the-box, infrastructure agnostic upstream Kubernetes solution is underpinned by a “24x7x365 SLA guarantee”. The solution avoids management overheads and the necessity for companies to engage an advanced Kubernetes expert. Part of the company's hybrid cloud solution, the new Kubernetes service is production-ready, easy to use, and operates alongside existing legacy applications. It can be “up and running in less than an hour” and gives organizations a single interface from which to manage virtual machines, containers and serverless functions using any platform.

"Kubernetes is the #1 enabler for cloud-native applications and is critical to the competitive advantage for software-driven organizations today,” explained Platform9’s co-founder and CEO, Sirish Raghuram. “VMware was never designed to run containerized workloads, and integrated offerings in the market today are extremely clunky, hard to implement and even harder to manage. We're proud to take the pain out of Kubernetes on VMware, delivering a pure open source-based, Kubernetes-as-a-Service solution that is fully managed, just works out of the box, and with an SLA guarantee in your own environment."
