August 25, 2008 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Scottish software and Internet services provider iomart has bought web hosting company Easyspace, it was reported recently. The move, IOMART suggests, will "significantly enhance the scale and profitability" of its Internet business, adding 140,000 new customers to its books at a cost of £12 million ($22.1 million).
iomart will expand its sales force to offer products and services to Easyspaces customer base. The Glasgow-based company will also reduce Easyspaces cost base by about £1m over the next 18 months. Easyspace offers web hosting and domain name services. It manages 300,000 domains and 40,000 are hosting customers with a staff of 15 people.
"The acquisition of Easyspace is a significant development for us and supplements the organic growth of the division, which has been adding new customers at an average of more that 1200 per month since April, suggested Angus MacSween, iomarts Chief Executive Officer.
